辻が花とは室町中期に始まり、桃山時代に花開いた絞り染めの技法です。高度な技術と豊かな詩情で図柄を絞り、さらに墨書きを加える日本独自の染色文化です。
しかし友禅染めの登場で歴史から消えてしまい何百年も幻の染めとなっていました。復活したのはごく近年のことです。
matohuは道々に咲く名もなき花＝辻が花の生命力と素朴な美しさを、絞り染めだけにこだわらずに表現しました。軽やかで風をはらむ生地と春らしい優しい色彩が咲き乱れる、詩的なコレクションになりました。

Tsujigahana is a traditional Japanese tie-dye technique, which was popular in the Keicho period, 400 years ago.
The technique was so fragile, so intricate, and so complicated it fell out of use for a long time, and was only kept alive by hearsay. That is, until recent moves to revive it.
matohu is inspired by this old textile and wants to capture a part of its naive beauty and vitality, as reflected in the name, Tsujigahana, which means literally "flowers of the street". The collection uses airy, light fabrics and bright Spring colors to draw to mind this fragrant poesy.
